I visited alone and the atmosphere was great — overall very satisfying. Even though I'm a quiet type, my assigned hostess spoke Korean quite well and led the mood perfectly, playing card games and darts with me.
There was zero pressure to buy lady drinks, so I actually felt bad and ordered first — the staff's attitude and service were excellent. The bill was calculated exactly, with no overcharging or rip-offs.
That said, there's one big downside. When I tried to pay by card, they demanded an extra 10% as a 'fee.' When I said the fee was too steep, the manager robotically said, 'Then go outside and withdraw cash from an ATM,' which soured the mood at the end. Bank transfer was an option too, but I was flustered at the time and just paid 10% more by card — 3.11 million dong total (about 170,000 KRW).
At 170,000 KRW for one person, it's about the same as a Korean bar, so by Vietnamese standards it's incredibly expensive. If you're going, I strongly recommend bringing plenty of 'cash' or planning to do a 'bank transfer' to avoid spoiling your mood. The staff service was good enough to be worth the money.
For reference, here's a rough price estimate.
Hoegaarden beer tower: 1.89 million dong (about 100,000 KRW)
Hostess TC: 300,000 dong per hour
Lady drink: 200,000 dong per glass
I ordered 1 Hoegaarden tower, 2 hours of hostess seating, and 2 lady drinks. The beer tower was about 100,000 KRW, the hostess TC and drinks about 50,000 KRW, and at the end a card payment fee (10%) of about 20,000 KRW was added, totaling 3.11 million dong (about 170,000 KRW). Plan your budget accordingly.
